Sorry boys you are at least 3/4 mile away from the v1 site the crater you have here is from an LMB 1000 kg parachute mine and pretty rare at that it took me 4 years to identify it, keep walking in the direction of the photo towards a small tree 40mts further on and hey presto water-filled crater you can see it on google earth.

Hi guys

I to have visited the V1 site and clearly remember seeing the lone tree that’s up there as I thought it was very strange to be in open moorland. As for the water filled crater which is located at SK182970 some 657 meters to the North East of the V1 sight, In my opinion this is a natural feature and one of a number of pools in that same area all of which are shown clearly on OSmaps. Can you tell us were you got the info from tomsk?

Thanks Dave,

you are right, there are pools on the OS map at the location given (SK 18228 97069,SK 18403 96994 and SK 18393 97022. Is one of these the one you mean, Tomsk? Are you there, Tomsk? You seemed so sure of yourself, but now you have disappeared.

Anyway even if a “Fieseler Fi 103” and a “Luftmine B” were to drop in virtually the same area which is very very unlikely it would be impossible to tell the craters apart today as they both carried an almost identical 1 Ton warhead and were both made from near identical materials. The only feasible explanation would be that a witness has been found (which I doubt), it would be interesting to know what evidence tomsk had found. Come on tomsk please tell all…….

sorry for the delay in responding, work commitments i can see you found the snow!! "dave" has found the V1 site the 3 pools close by are indeed natural if you go back a bit to your original site that is the land mine (no real crater designed to be a surface blast) i have the parachute attatchment fins off it can send pics regards.

To add i also have parts from the "lone tree" crater this is a V1 site i have identifiable parts can send pics if you wish.

Sean said...

yes please, along with a bit of text to explain why you identify these sites as you do...
