A grand day out with Pat and Mick yesterday yielded a twofer, a Mustang on Holdron Moss, and the Defiant on Hawthornthwaite Fell.

Bits of this Mustang which was part of the same ill-fated flight of twelve 'planes as Mustang 44-72181, which we visited earlier.

Others have reported no visible wreckage at the location, but a close search showed quite a bit of small surface wreckage like this.

An uncommonly visited wreck, judging by the lack of any tracks from previous visitors. This might be to do with the fact that it's not mentioned in Ron Collier's book, as it lies just outside the Dark Peak area. It's the South Pennines, strictly.
