An uncommonly visited wreck, judging by the lack of any tracks from previous visitors. This might be to do with the fact that it's not mentioned in Ron Collier's book, as it lies just outside the Dark Peak area. It's the South Pennines, strictly.

There seems to be less wreckage at this site than previous reports led us to believe, but it has gained a wooden cross.

Just one wreck site today, this Boulton Paul Defiant on Rowlee pasture. Missed this once before, but with coords from both Bob and Ralph, and the path worn to the site by previous visitors, an easy find today. I make the coordinates as SK 15287 90504.
Went though Alport castles on the way down, quite a scramble in today's wind and weather.
We failed to find the small fragments which are all that is left of the Miles Hawk Trainer Mk.III G-AJSF which was supposed to be quite close to this site. Next time!
We heard quite a gruesome story about this wreck from someone who was there at the time.
Wellington Wreck at Birchen Bank Moss: SK 10546 98575.
Found at the third attempt. Ground around the site is a bit treacherous. Take great care not to fall into a bog if you are visiting it.
Boulton Paul Defiant at Near Bleaklow Stones: SK 10618 96937.
Unusually, the "Dark Peak Aircraft Wrecks" coordinates are way out at this site. Not sure why, but consequently took us a couple of tries (and a bit of help from High Peak Bob) to get this one.
