Handley Page Hampden Mk.I L4055

Hampden:Holme

A wet and windy one today, so only got one wreck, this Hampden crash site near Holme. I'm holding a big chunk of iron, with some smaller bits of aluminium balanced on top, discovered by metal detection in the explosion crater.

Yes, I know it could be a dog turd from this small photo but ask yourself, would I be cupping a dog turd in my hands?

We failed to find the small fragments which are all that is left of the Miles Hawk Trainer Mk.III G-AJSF which was supposed to be quite close to this site. Next time!

We heard quite a gruesome story about this wreck from someone who was there at the time.
