This incredibly heavy bit of the Vulcan flew quite some distance from the crater. Not sure what it is, but it was built to last

I remember this plan crashing since we live about 20 miles away. I was 11 and my father took me to see if we could find it. It was a ver cold day and the whole area was cordoned off by military police.
We had to turn around, but my father parked out of sight and we walked up the mountain, from memory it was low og and mist with very limited visability. However by listaning we could hear the location of the recovery work. The main wreckage was being removed. However I did manage to recover 2 parts. On returning down the mountain I lost one because my hands were so cold, but I still have the other. It is a spring loaded leaver. I dont know what it is but my father convinced me it was the bomb leaver :-)
